Recently a friend of mine brought up some of the new features of World of Warship the thing that stood out to me is that the game is getting their own Prestige system. In which you will be able to Reset your levels and when you do that you gain a 10% health boost and can do it again for an additional 20% health and even gain reload speed boost.
So this all sounds well and good but the biggest issue I have with this is what my friend told me about the fact that while you get all these kinds of boost the players who are new to the game do not get those buffs which means if you are new you are immediately at a disadvantage. This feels like a game system that is intended for PVE style game placed in a game that is strictly PVP.
For those of you that don’t know PVE means when the player fights against A.I. Characters and PVP is player versus other players. So, you can see that as new gamer’s enter the game, they are going to be going up against people who are going to be a lot more powerful than you almost immediately.
The only offer Wargaming leaves new players is premium consumables, which basically means they get a few XP boosts while the Vet players are able insanely stronger. These kinds of ideas are not necessarily bad the issue is that they shouldn’t be adding PVE Mechanics into a game that is only PVP. It will cause new players to struggle to play the multiplayer at all.
I’m not sure if this will stay permanently, hopefully, the Devs will see that this is going to cause major problems for new players and hopefully can readjust so that way all players can still have a chance to win in a match. Otherwise, the game is going to be super unbalanced.
When adding a prestige system, it’s okay for multiplayer games to add cosmetic for your own customization but adding things to multiplayer that only makes you more powerful is going to hinder and possibly even hurt the player base.
