The Voice Semi-Finals Season 9 Recap

We are in the week of semi-finals! Tomorrow night, 5 contestants will be sent home, and next week is the finale! This season flew by so fast and I am so excited for the finale next week!

Each contestant has come a long way since their blind audition and, being so close to the finish line, they are giving it all they have.

Barrett Baber, from Team Blake, was up first performing Ella Henderson’s “Ghost.” Overall, I think it was a good performance, maybe not his best, however, he does have an awesome fan base, so he has a chance to make it to the finals next week.

Next up was Shelby Brown, from Team Adam, performed Jo Dee Messina’s “Even God Must Get the Blues.” Being the only country singer on Adam’s team, I think that she has the advantage, she has been performing so well lately and tonight further proved that she belongs in this competition.

Jeffery Austin, from Team Gwen, performed Cher’s “Believe.” It would be a shocker if Jeffery doesn’t get into the finals. He has so much heart and shows so much potential to becoming something even bigger than The Voice. I think that this was another great performance for Jeffery, and he continues to show off his skills every week.

Last week’s instant save winner, Braiden Sunshine performed “Amazing Grace.” This is the kind of music he should be performing, not rock. Braiden’s voice is meant for more of a softer tone, and I really wish that both he and Gwen and realized this earlier on.

Next was Zach Seabaugh, from Team Blake, performing Miley Cyrus’ “The Climb.” Finally something new and different for Zach and I think that he did amazing during this performance. It was something that we have never seen him do before and it also had a little spin to truly show his moves. This performance was great both vocally and emotionally.

Madi Davis, from Team Pharrell, performed Four Season’s “Big Girls Don’t Cry.” Right in the beginning you can tell she added her own spin to it. It’s cute and calm, perfect for her tone of voice. However, I think this song would have been better for last week, and last week song should have been for this week.

Emily Ann Roberts, from Team Blake, performed Dolly Parton’s “9 to 5.” She has been one of my favorites since the beginning and tonight just further proved that. She is an amazing singer and performer, and she truly belongs in this competition. I don’t think she has ever truly had a bad performance.

Next from Team Adam, was Amy Vachal performing Bob Dylan’s “To Make You Feel My Love.” This was one of her best performances yet. This kind of song was perfect for her, and I think Adam has done such a great job coaching her through this.

Last, but not least, also from Team Adam, Jordan Smith performing Queen’s “Somebody to Love.” Jordan has true talent, he has continued to impress the viewers and the coaches every week since his blind auditions. There is no doubt that he will make it into the finale.

I think that the finale will come down to:

Jordan Smith (of course)

Emily Ann Roberts

Amy Vachal

Jeffery Austin
