The Voice Season 10 Recap: Who’s in the Top 12?!

It’s been awhile everyone, and while this HT writer was on a bit of a break (college life is rough y’all, but I love it so much), The Voice still continued on, and tonight the group of contestants was cut down to the Top 12.

Spoiler alert: Please exit now if you do not want to know who is still in the competition!

Okay, so for starters, this has been a great season, it’s brought some pretty amazing singers, and some not-so-great, #sorrynotsorry? But it’s that time in the competition to get serious, and I mean SERIOUS. Half of the contestants were eliminated and although I feel like that is so many to give up, I get the reasoning behind it. But anyways, enough of the rambling, let’s get down to business, I’ll list by teams so it is easier to keep track of, and I’ve also linked the contestants last performances so you can all decide where you stand with our top 12 contestants.

Let’s start with Team Adam. So America decided to save Shalyah Fearing and Laith Al-Saadi. Both great performers, from these two, I think I’d have to go with Shalyah. Although, Laith gave a pretty powerful performance.

With the two of them saved, that left Owen Danoff, Caroline Burns, Brian Nhira, and Nate Butler, and Adam was left with the unlucky decision to save only one of them. Given their performances, I definitely thought they all could have done a little better, but I would’ve chosen Nate for this one.

However, Adam and I don’t really agree on things (otherwise he’d be my husband right now, amiright?) But Adam decides to save Owen Danoff, so ya’know, good for Owen!

Next up we’ll do Team Pharrell. Pharrell always has some pretty good performers on his team, and this season is no different.

America saved Hannah Huston and Daniel Passino. I think Hannah has some amazing talent, and her stage presence is AWESOME SAUCE.

This left Pharrell to have to choose Emily Keener, Lacy Mandigo, Moushumi, and Caity Peters. Now I have to show some support because Caity Peters is a friend of my roommates, and I was rooting for her to be saved.

However, I do agree with Pharrell with this one since he chose Emily Keener to continue on.

Alright Team Christina, America saved Alisan Porter and Nick Hagelin. I really enjoy watching these two perform, and I think America did a great job on this one.

This left Ryan Quinn, Tamar Davis, Bryan Bautista, and Kata Hay. I’ve really enjoyed Bryan Bautista this season, but I also like Ryan Quinn, so that is basically why I cannot be a real coach for The Voice.

In the end, Christina chose to save Bryan Bautista.

Last but certainly not least, Team Blake. This is where I get a little hesitant about things. America saved Adam Wakefield (country-guy so understandable), and Mary Sarah, whom I have loved since the beginning.

With those two automatically going to the Top 12, Katie Basden, Joe Maye, Paxton Ingram, and Justin Whisnant were left for Blake to choose.

So here we go with a quick rant, Katie did amazing, hands down probably one of the best performances of the nights. And Joe Maye also gave a pretty fantastic performance, so much enthusiasm and commitment to the song, literally amazing. Justin and Paxton gave good performances as well, but I would’ve had it between Katie and Joe.

So, “why are you on a rant, Marissa?” well I’m so glad you asked, because Blake chose Paxton Ingram! Now, all you Paxtonators out there, do not get me wrong, he ┬áis a great performer and I enjoyed his performance, however, I do think that Joe might have been the better one in this sense. Rant over.

Tonight’s eliminations got rid of half of the contestants, and we are getting in to the real serious time of this competition. Obviously my ranting can’t change the outcome of tonight’s show, but I just thought you all should know where I stood. With those who made it in the Top 12, I congratulate you, and I can’t wait to see who makes it to the finale. The competition is still filled with amazing performers, and I am so excited for the Top 12!
