The Voice Season 10 – Night 1 of Battle Rounds! – Recap

Last night was the first night of battle rounds, well, the last of the blind auditions, and then the beginning of battle rounds!

Last week brought some amazing auditions and I was sure that the first night of battles was bound to be a great one.

The show started off with the coaches doing a rendition of Stevie Wonder’s, “I Wish.”

You can check out that performance here!

At the beginning of the show, Adam, Christina, and Blake all had one spot left on their teams, while Pharrell had two.

Jared Harder, was the first to perform for the judges. He sang Kacey Musgraves “Merry Go Round” and did great! Jared was able to catch the attention of Blake, leaving him to be on Team Blake.

Next up to perform was Moushumi, who decided to quit studying to be a doctor and pursue a career in music. Adam and Christina push their buttons, and not long after Pharrell pushes his. All of the coaches pitch their ideas with Moushumi in hopes to convince her to choose them.

Moushumi chooses… Team Pharrell!

Katie Basden was next to perform. But before her, there was a huge group of hopefuls that sadly did not get any chairs to turn.

But anyways, back to Katie, Adam immediately pushes his button when she starts singing. And not long after, Pharrell follows, with Christina pushing her button at the last second.

The funny part in this is that, Katie is a country singer, so with Blake out of the picture, the coaches start going crazy!

Blake even tries begging Katie not to choose Adam, but he is in for a shocker when Katie chooses… Team Adam!

Jonathan Hutcherson performs One Directions “You & I.”

With some motivation, Pharrell pushes his button, and becomes the only one to push their button.

That makes Jonathan on… Team Pharrell!

Ayanna Jahnee is the final performer tonight, and she does an amazing performance of “Skyfall.”

Christina is the only person left with an open spot, so that makes Ayanna part of… Team Christina!

Now (finally) the battle rounds began! This season has brought some amazing advisers! We have Tori Kelly for Team Adam, Sean Diddy Combs for Team Pharrell, Patti LaBelle for Team Christina, and (not surprising) Gwen Stefani for Team Blake!

The battles started with Team Adam pairing up Katie Basden and Ryan Quinn performing “Maybe I’m Amazed.” Shockingly enough, Katie is able to keep up with Ryan during their performance, but sadly Adam still chooses Ryan to stay.

Lucky for Katie though, Christina and Blake both push their buttons to steal her! Adam encourages Katie to go with Team Christina, but this time, Katie is not having it, as she chooses… Team Blake!

Next up we have Team Blake pairing up Brittney Lawrence and Paxton Ingram performing “I Know What You Did Last Summer.” This brings adviser Gwen Stefani, and I personally think that him bringing in Gwen was the greatest idea ever.

This was an amazing performance from both sides, and it truly was a tough decision for Blake. In the end, Blake chooses to keep Paxton, and none of the coaches attempt to steal Brittney so she ends up going home.

Team Christina pairs up Bryan Bautista and Malik Heard with the help of adviser Patti LaBelle.

The two give probably on the best performances this season, if not ever, singing “It’s A Man’s Man’s Man’s World.”

This was the hardest decision of the night as both Bryan and Malik did an amazing job. Thankfully, the other coaches share that no matter who Christina chooses, the other will be stolen.

Christina ultimately chooses Bryan, and almost immediately, Adam, Pharrell, AND Blake pushed their buttons to steal Malik.

In the end, Malik chooses Team Pharrell!

That was it for last night’s episode of the battle rounds! What did you guys think of it?
