In a shocking move, UFC is ditching their Pay-Per-View offerings to be exclusive on the ESPN+ streaming service.
Earlier this year, the UFC moved from FOX to ESPN as their television partners. The UFC deal with ESPN lasts until 2025 and will net the UFC $1.5 Billion.
UFC moving their pay-per-view offerings to ESPN+ expands the relationship between the two. UFC will be lowing the cost of their 12 PPV events from $65 down to $59 to help offset the cost of the ESPN+ subscription.
Commentary: If UFC will begin to make essentially $60 per event, this will be a massive deal for them. With traditional PPV, the company would only get (I believe) 40% of the price for PPV. This could be a major revenue driver for UFC.
Let’s not forget that UFC was purchased recently for $4 Billion by the William Morris Endeavor. This is a great way to make some of that money up.
