Former President Donald Trump has been acquitted in his impeachment trial. The Senate voted 57-43 to acquit the former President.
In order to find Trump guilty of “incitement of a insurrection,” the Impeachment Managers would need a two-thirds majority, or 67 votes. Today’s vote came with all 50 democrats voting to convict with 7 republicans joining them.
Those who joined democrats include Republicans, including Richard Burr of North Carolina, Senator Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, Senator Susan Collins of Maine, Senator Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Senator Ben Sasse of Nebraska, Senator Mitt Romney of Utah, and Senator Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania.
Now that former President Trump has been acquitted it opens up the lanes for a 2024 run as of now.
