Since the release of I, Tonya, a biographical film about the most infamous and disgraced figure skater in the world, Tonya Harding has enjoyed some positive publicity and even a second chance at life. She turned in her skates for dancing shoes when she appeared on the reality show, “Dancing With The Stars”, and now she returns to the small screen once again as one of the ‘worst cooks in America’.
Harding will aim to seek redemption in the kitchen on the upcoming season of “Worst Cooks in America: Celebrity Edition.” The president of HGTV and the Food Network, Allison Page, announced the news during the summer press tour of the 2018 Television Critics Association.
Harding spoke candidly during the premiere of DWTS about her how her life has never been the same since the 1994 Nancy Kerrigan incident. “I was the best figure skater in the world and then I had it taken away from me. And it just wasn’t my career. It was my life. I wasn’t allowed to compete…you have people looking at you like you’re nothing. You start to believe that you are nothing. I just wanted to do what I was good at.”
Harding has referred to her time on DWTS as “a fresh start” and “a new beginning”. Hopefully she can continue with this new lease on life and pick up some skills in the kitchen at the same time!
“Worst Cooks in America: Celebrity Edition” is set to premiere in 2019.
