In what comes as no surprise, The Office is leaving Netflix at the end of 2020. NBC, the sitcoms home for 9 seasons, will be launching their own streaming service and will be taking exclusive rights to the show in 2021.
“The Office has become a staple of pop culture and is a rare gem whose relevance continues to grow at a time when fans have more entertainment choices than ever before,” said Bonnie Hammer, chairman of NBCUniversal DTC and digital enterprises. “We can’t wait to welcome the gang from Dunder Mifflin to NBCUniversal’s new streaming service.”
The Office is one of, if not the highest streamed show for Netflix. It’s only a matter of time before shows like Friends do the same thing and leave Netflix. Almost all Disney owned content will also be leaving the streaming platform for upcoming Disney Plus streaming service.
