TLast Friday, The Division 2 released across all gaming platforms to a honestly great response. I’m not even a really big fan of looter shooters games like this but I even thought it was way better than another looter shooter that also came out recently called Anthem.
To me, Anthem represents the worst-case scenario for this type of genre in the video game industry while The Division 2 is the best-case scenario. Anthem lacked any real content. It felt like the makings of a great game but just fell short, while The Division 2 is nothing but content. I spent the weekend playing this game with my best friend and we always had something new to do, we were always busy.
I think Ubisoft is really great at giving us so much more to play with than we have time for. The drop rates in The Division 2 were great. The game only lagged for me on the first day and Ubisoft already fixed it up.
Anthem, on the other hand, is just now getting better. EA and BioWare are still working on this game and trying to fix it, while The Division 2 has been out a week and runs and works great. I feel like The Division 2 is the best in the recent looter shooter games that have come out because Ubisoft really took the time to polish it and make it fun for everyone.
Personally, the biggest weakness is that The Division 2 story is lacking. Let’s be honest here, when it comes to these types of games, we’re here to kick ass, grab some new guns, and kill things. The story is not really as important in this genre of games.
Anthem, while having a compelling story, didn’t really give me a great loot grind feel. I just wanted to see what was happening in the story but I couldn’t unless I grinded out levels for my character to be matching quest requirements.
While playing The Division 2 I couldn’t care less what I was doing. Everything about this game is fun. My best friend and I would wander around D.C., shoot bad guys, and do whatever objectives we found (which was like every few streets in the game).
Overall, I feel that dev teams should look at what Ubisoft has done with The Division 2 and make looter shooter games more like that. Basically, to create a well running game with lots to do and a good number of drops. For those of you thinking about which of the two games to throw your money at, pick The Division 2.
