Facebook pledges $10 millions to fight racial injustice

As Facebook faces backlash for not censoring President Trump, Mark Zuckerberg pledges $10 million to fight racial injustice. In a post on Sunday Night, the Facebook CEO said that social media platform is  “working with our civil rights advisors and our employees to identify organizations locally and nationally that could most effectively use [the funding] right now.”

The Facebook owned Instagram also came out with a stance of anti-racism and a commitment to raise Black voices on its platform. The Social Media site is highlighting Black stories through the #ShareBlackStories hashtag.

Axios is reporting that Zuckerberg spoke with President Trump on the phone in regards to the Tweet in which Trump said “when the looting starts, the shooting starts…” Zuckerberg reportedly expressed some concerns over “about the tone and rhetoric” of the President’s social media posts.

While Twitter posted a warning label on the President’s tweet, Facebook did not remove the President’s post.

Facebook Being sued over “Likes”

And I can almost put money on the fact that Facebook won’t “like” this (Credit, Mashable). Apparently, the idea of “liking” something on the internet was patented back in 1998.

Mashable wrote:

The social network is currently being sued for its use of the Like button, a feature which was patented by Dutch programmer Joannes Jozef Everardus van Der Meer in 1998, five years before Facebook’s launch.

You can call your friends with Facebook

According to Mashable, you are now able to call your friends using the Facebook App!

 

Free calls are placed by tapping the “i” icon on the top right side of chat, and then selecting “Free Call” from your friend’s contact card. Your friends will need to have Facebook’s stand-alone Messenger app installed on their phone in order for the feature to work (otherwise the “Free Call” icon will appear grey and marked out).

No, but really. They broke up late last week. According to ThyBlackMan confirmed that Justin Bieber cheated on Selena Gomez, but with who? Well, no one knows for sure, but what we do know is that the rumor mill is saying it was a Victoria Secret’s model.

On November 27, 2012, Ruben Jay launches a new show called “On Air With Ruben Jay”, and here is your chance to be a studio audience member and MEET both Ruben Jay and special guest co-host, Daniel Durston! You have 5 ways to win! Here are some of the rules:

 

  • You must be at least 15 years old.
  • You must have a parent or legal guardian sign a media release for for picture, video, audio etc.
  • You must be in the LA/OC area to win (or willing to travel on your own expense).
  • If you decide you can’t make it, you must notify us within 48 hours or risk being disqualified for future in-studios.
  • Winners will receive a ticket +1. This means you and a guest. Parents and legal guardians can be considered “guests” or purchase tickets for $5.00 at the door.
