‘Seinfeld’ Coming To Netflix In $500 Million Deal

Seinfeld has a new home once their current distribution rights deals come to an end. Netflix has announced that they acquired the rights to the hit sitcom for 5 years from Sony. Amazon and Hulu will be losing the rights to show come 2021 and Netflix will have exclusive worldwide rights.

Netflix is also the home of Jerry Seinfeld. Both his show, Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee and his stand up specials, are on Netflix. Bringing his sitcom to Netflix is a smart move to brand Netflix as the home for all things Seinfeld.

Earlier this year, it was announced that both The Office and Friends are leaving Netflix for other homes for similar money.

The Hollywood Report: “Seinfeld is the television comedy that all television comedy is measured against,” said Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos. “It is as fresh and funny as ever, and will be available to the world in 4K for the first time. We can’t wait to welcome Jerry, Elaine, George and Kramer to their new global home on Netflix.”
