The Galaxy Fold was supposed to revolutionize smart phones. Instead, it embarrassed Samsung and really put the idea of a foldable phone in jeopardy.
The CEO of Samsung, DJ Koh, recently had a meeting with journalists where he discussed the embarrassing roll out attempt on the Samsung Fold. TechCrunch is reporting that Koh called the rollout “embarrassing”.
According to the report, Koh said that he “pushed the device through” too quickly and wanted to the first company producing foldable phones. I think we can all agree that this was an embarrassing attempt to introduce a new product.
Samsung released a limited run of The Fold to reporters to review. Reviewers started to report that the phone was malfunctioning. At one point, multiple reporters started showing that their displays has either started to glitch or were completely broken.
Initially, Samsung responded by claiming the reporters were misusing the device before realizing that the problem was their fault. Samsung took back the review units and for 2 months have been quiet on the new date for release.
Even with the lack of an updated release date, Koh says that there will be a Galaxy Fold.
