Robinhood, the controversial stock trading app, is gearing up to hire “a ton” of new staff, the New York Post reports.
The upcoming hiring spree is coming to the Robinhood to help support their Cryptocurrency business. This will include the ability to move Crypto assets to their wallet, according to Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev.
“We’re actually growing our crypto team hugely this year,” Tenev said during a virtual “fireside chat” Robinhood posted to YouTube Thursday. “The business has just been going through exponential growth. We really hit an inflection point this year.”
Tenev didn’t say how many new staff members they plan to hire. It is expected to be a significant number to help support their growing businesses.
One of the biggest focuses of the new team will be to deposit to and from the platform. Currently, users are only able to buy and sell Crypto currency, not deposit or withdraw.
“As much as people are bugging me on that on social media, I’m bugging our crypto team and our software engineers so we’re going to try to get that done as fast as possible,” Tenev said.
