Looks like President Trump will have a few weeks to put together a legal defense team as his Impeachment Trial has been delayed until February 8, 2021.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) announced on Friday that he and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) made an agreement to give Trump two weeks to prepare for his trial.
Under this agreement, the House impeachment managers will read the Article of Impeachment on Monday, January 25 at 7pm. The next day, the Senate will be sworn in as jurors for the trial. Trump will have until February 2 to respond.
Over the next two weeks, the Senate will be able to conduct other business as they wait for the trail to begin. This will allow the Senate to hold hearing to confirm President Joe Biden’s cabinet.
