Pre-Cannes: Covent Garden

London hosted a glamorous Pre-Cannes social event, presenting trailers and Cannes Short Corner official selections. A special opening belonged to a celebrity guest director Howard J Ford that was also celebrating the launch of his newly released book ‘Surviving the Dead’.

Some of the trailers being screened that night have been selected at Cannes Film Festival 2012. We have seen trailers of feature films that will be premiered soon in London, such as Si Wall ‘Consequence’ and Pilli Cortese’s ‘Waves’. Every year MSFT Management and DYSTHLEXI produce work, which is made by dyslexic story makers. A trailer about the creative dyslexia was showcased at the Pre-Cannes event, which received a very welcoming feedback from the crowd. Cannes Short Corner official selections were also presented at the event such as James Bushe’s ‘Blackout’ starring Darren Enright and Henry Jenkinson’s ‘Rose’ starring Simon Manley and Natasha Goulden.

Among the attendances we spotted some established and up-and-coming film makers such as internationally recognised film director Howard J Ford (‘The Dead’ movie, ‘Surviving the Dead’ book), Mac Chakaveh (President of the Marbella Film Festival), Robbie Moffat (Producer at Palm Tree Entertainment), Ross Boyask (film director and head of acquisitions at Stealth Media Group) and many more.

That night we were lucky enough to interview renowned film director Howard J Ford. Despite the success of his horror movie ‘The Dead’ he was also celebrating the launch of his newly released book ‘Surviving the Dead’. We went behind the scenes and interviewed Howard about his book release and other upcoming projects.

Paola Berta, the main organizer of the Pre-Cannes social event, was very pleased with the success of the event.  She mentioned there will certainly be more events like this as she loves helping talented people in the film industry. Paola Berta said: “I am extremely grateful that some of the big directors and filmmakers in the film industry came to the event, that we presented a trailer about creative dyslexia, few trailers of shorts officially selected at Cannes Short Corner 2012 and that we even managed to run a charity raffle to help upcoming young director Charlotte Knowles’s short film ‘Fish’ to be made”.
