-IN DEFENSE OF THE PUNISHER

So Greg Rucka has ended his run on the Punisher so that the character can join the Thunderbolts in December.  This is stupid.  The entire point of the Punisher relaunch seemed to be to distance him from the greater Marvel universe, only crossing over with other New York street-level heroes like Daredevil and Spider-Man.  It hung out in its own little bubble and told a good story, much like Punisher MAX before it, and most of Ennis’ older Punisher run before that.  The Punisher works much better fighting mob bosses and corporate slime than, say, Kang.  I’ll give Thunderbolts a shot and try to keep an open mind, but I feel that Marvel has silenced a truly interesting book for a seemingly very bland one.  There seems to be a lot of that going around.
