-WRITE BOOK GOOD

Mister Miracle has the measured pacing and style of a story that is meant to mean something. One where the writer knows where we’re going to be in ten issues, and when you look back in a second read you can see that the future plans were right in front of us the whole time. It’s reminiscent of Tom King’s current work on Batman, or Matt Fraction’s superb runs on Iron Man and Fantastic Four. Of Thor under the deft hand of Aaron, Straczynski, or SImonson.

And with each issue being its own pulpy tale on top of being a small slice of a larger narrative, more than anything it reminds me of All Star Superman. But Mister Miracle is not Superman, and so the story is much harder-edged. I don’t know if it can withstand that kind of comparison in the long run, but I can easily say it’s already one of the comics I’m most excited to read each month.
