-DAREDEVIL IN SAN FRANCISCO
Usually when heroes change cities, it’s to refresh their supporting cast and or their monthly villains. Daredevil hasn’t really done either. Honestly the move hasn’t changed the book much at all just yet, much to its benefit. It was great in Hell’s Kitchen. It’s great in Frisco. Mark Waid has done a fantastic job of taking tired old rogues like, say, the Owl, and flipping him on his head to explode him from second-ran Kingpin to potential all-time archnemesis. But the biggest change comes not from the move, but from Matt Murdock’s newly found celebrity. There is a three panel sequence of Murdock getting snapped by a paparazzi and it irking him in a way that no amount of ninjas could. The faintest of crooked frowns conveyed such delicious silent hatred of always being in the public eye, and this quiet moment is my favorite thing I read this week.
