-THE END OF FABLES
Fables appears to be ending not with a bang, but with a “wait, are there really only two issues left? How are they going to wrap up this story…nay, this whole series, in only two issues?” This storyline started by promising some very epic-feeling things, and then did that Fables mainstay of straying from the main story to fill in some backstory and pump up the anticipation. If they had done that, say, five issues ago it would make sense, but if Fables does indeed end at #150 we should be in the thick of the climax. A story this large couldn’t possibly end without an issue of epilogue, I would think, which means we only have #149 to wrap up Snow and Bigby’s story, find a satisfying end to Brandish’s trial by combat, and to fill in the rest of Rose Red’s mother’s story and what it means for her and Snow, and to do it all without feeling rushed or forced.
I’m probably wrong and issue 150 will be at least double-sized, leaving room enough for all this story to come to a fitting conclusion, but man. I feel like this should all be more exciting by now.
