-THE ART OF THE ANNIVERSARY ISSUE
I have grown used to paying five dollars for Marvel’s big renumbering issues and getting little in return. It’s usually a 32-page main story that follows the previous issue’s events, and then a number of subpar backups from different writers, or worse, the reprint of an issue you most likely already own. Invincible Iron Man #500 doesn’t do this; its main story is woven through a directly-related future story shown from three different perspectives. It’s all written by Matt Fraction, drawn by four different art teams. And it’s fantastically done. I think you could jump directly into this story with no prior Iron Man knowledge and enjoy the crap out of it. And perhaps you should.
