New Avengers hasn’t really heated up yet, but it has placed stakes so high that there is a palpable feeling of dread in the air already. Jonathan Hickman has a knack for a very dry, clinical kind of excitement. When it doesn’t work it’s bland. When it does work it’s enthralling. New Avengers is working. If it keeps this up once the stuff starts going down it’s going to be amazing.
