I’ve been a Squirrel Girl fan for a long time. Not as long as some, I’m sure, but long enough to remember when Monkey Joe was her main squirrel companion. This Unbeatable Squirrel Girl is not that character I’ve grown to love. She’s BETTER. She is so fun and funny and charismatic and goofy that going back to older versions of the character is like reading a Stan Lee Spider-Man story and being taken aback by how stiff and unreal he feels. The old Squirrel Girl was awesome and a real sweetheart, but she was a one-note punchline, whereas Unbeatable is no joke. She is a one woman (and however many squirrels) wrecking machine and I just want to be best friends with her forever and ever.
