Former First Lady Michelle Obama is releasing a new documentary titled after her autobiography, Becoming. The documentary is slated to be released on Netflix on May 6 and has become one of the most anticipated releases of the season.
Higher Ground Productions, a company that Michelle and husband, President Barack Obama, founded to produce content for Netflix, produced the documentary and has a good history in making documentaries. American Factory is another documentary produced by Higher Ground has won multiple awards in 2020.
Becoming follow Michelle on the road promoting the her memoir.
Those months I spent traveling — meeting and connecting with people in cities across the globe — drove home the idea that what we share in common is deep and real and can’t be messed with,” she wrote in a statement. “In groups large and small, young and old, unique and united, we came together and shared stories, filling those spaces with our joys, worries, and dreams. We processed the past and imagined a better future. In talking about the idea of ‘becoming,’ many of us dared to say our hopes out loud.”
Netflix released the first look of Becoming showing Michelle talking about her new life post-White House. Michelle says that she is on a “new track” in her life.
