IRS fixes bug on relief payment portal

Millions of Americans were left wondering “where’s my money” when it came to the Coronavirus Relief (“Stimulus”) payments from the federal government. According to the New York Post, the IRS has fixed bugs in their online portal that left millions unable to submit their banking information to receive their relief payments.

Taxpayers who filed their taxes were finally able to submit their banking information on the IRS’s “Get My Payment” tool. The IRS reportedly fixed the tool on Sunday.

This means that millions of Americans will not be able to get a direct deposit instead of waiting for paper checks to arrive. There have been reports saying checks may not be mailed until August.

Users of the IRS portal said that they were unable to enter the number “0” in the field asking how much they got in a tax refund or owed in tax payments.
