Freddie Prinze Jr. was on Ariel Helwani’s podcast recently and stated that he wants to start a wrestling company.
In his conversation with Helwani, Prinze mentioned that he is on track to be able to launch a promotion in the near future. With WWE releasing so many talent this year, there is an excess of available wrestlers.
Prinze later talked with TV Insider and reiterated is interest to start a wrestling company.
SEScoops has a transcript of his conversation with TV Insider:
“I have this plan where one day I want to start my own [independent] fed here in California,” Prinze said. “One that I know won’t make any money and will be a loss, but I can still stay connected. That I can hire wrestlers and let them do their work.”
“I was talking to Ariel Helwani about a two-year plan I had,” he continued. Prinze then mentioned Macaulay Culkin, who has been on his podcast, might be interested in being involved as well.
“I might have a partner in crime with one of my guests Macaulay Culkin, who has a passion for it as well. So we may do MFW, which does not stand for what you think it does.”
On Helwani’s podcast, Prinze did say that he had talked with Brian Kendrick, a wrestler, about possibly working together. Prinze also mentioned that he would do it as more of a fun thing to do. He understands that he might not get a big TV deal and make hundreds of millions of dollars.
During his chat with Helwani, Prinze said he had a talk with his accountant to ask him what he needed to do to be able to start s promotion. He then followed up with saying that he has done the first step and is in the process of taking the next. Prinze hinted that his desire to start a wrestling project is why he returned to acting.
Prinze is a former WWE Creative Team member.
