Drake’s “Views” – Album Review

April 29, 2016 brought Drake’s fourth studio album, Views released by Young Money Entertainment, Cash Money Records and Republic Records. Fun fact: This album was originally supposed to be titled Views from the 6 which was in reference of his hometown, Toronto, Ontario, Canada, but Drake decided to shorten it, which ultimately left it as Views.

I’ve listened to Drake’s other albums and mixtapes, and although his Take Care album has been one of my favorites, and to be completely honest, it still is. But Views is a very close second. Yes, it’s the same Drake that everyone knows and loves. Still showing off that he’s not just some kid from Degrassi anymore. No, no, no, he is all grown up now. Although other critics definitely have mixed reviews with this album, I am sure that this is an album that he is proud of, regardless of the critics because, at the end of the day, they’re talking about it.

In July 2015, Drake released, what ended up being, the song of the summer. Whether you loved it or hated it, you know for a fact that you could not get “Hotline Bling” out of your head, no matter how hard you tried. Eventually this song made it big, even scoring some memes across social media that are still circulating around today. Another single was released in April 2016 that we still cannot get out of our heads today, “One Dance”

This album features 20 songs that will not disappoint, however, to give it a grade, I’d give it a B, but this album has given Drake a lot of success. In Canada, it sold 92,000 copies opening week, and here in the US it debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 having sold 852,000 copies in the first week! Crazy right? I wish my bank account had those numbers. If you haven’t checked it out already, I recommend you do, I do not regret buying this album!
