To say that Disney+ is popular can be the understatement of the year. Disney+ announced their subscriber rate of 50 million paid users. It took the new streamer platform 5 months to reach roughly 30% of the Netflix’s base of roughly 168 million users.
8 million of those account come from India, where Disney+ just recently launched.
“We’re truly humbled that Disney+ is resonating with millions around the globe, and believe this bodes well for our continued expansion throughout Western Europe and into Japan and all of Latin America later this year,” according to Kevin Mayer, chairman of Disney’s Direct-to-Consumer & International segment.
Disney’s stock was trading ay $107.81 as of Thursday morning.
