Conan O’Brien renews deal with TBS, agrees to create more content

Conan O’Brien renews his contract with TBS through 2022.

O’Brien was rumored a few months back to be getting downsized on TBS, however, the new deal actually expands O’Brien’s offerings on the network and other platforms.

According to Variety, the new deal will lead to more non-talk show related programming and duties for O’Brien. The deal also expands his digital presence by creating more content exclusively for digital. O’Brien’s Conaco Production company will also give Conan the opportunity to create video games, podcasts, and live tours.

In the past few years I’ve stumbled across many new and exciting ways of connecting with my audience,” O’Brien said, “and I’m eager to evolve my show into something leaner, more agile and more unpredictable.”

What makes Conan special to TBS is his digital numbers. His TV ratings are terrible, but he brings in the viewers via digital.

Expect to see O’Brien out on tour in the next few years.
