CBS replaces the Tony Awards with a ‘Grease’ singalong

CBS has announced plans to replace this years Tony Awards with an airing of Grease. In recent years, the big four networks (NBC, CBS, FOX, ABC) have aired live action musicals. This airing of Grease will not be a live action.

This airing of Grease will be a singalong. Grease stars John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John and was released in 1978. The Tony Awards were schedule for June 7, 2020 at 8:30 but was cancelled due to the Coronavirus.

The Tony Awards have not yet been completely cancelled as of now, but the likelihood of there being an award show in 2020 is very low. Many rumors have been swirling about a possible combined show in 2021 or a tribute to Broadway once the theaters reopen.
