Happy Birthday to the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. Today is Jackson’s 60th Birthday.
In celebration of Jackson’s birthday, Mark Ronson put together a medley of MJ music that you’ll enjoy.
The Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, passed away early this morning at her home in Detroit, she was 76 years old.
Franklin had been battling a number of illnesses over the years, and earlier this week was listed as “gravely ill” by family and friends. While asking for privacy and prayers, they also said they were “prepared for the worst”, according to BET. Franklin’s publicist, Gwendolyn Quinn has reportedly said, her cause of death is being listed as advanced pancreatic cancer.
The Queen of Soul had a career in music that spanned more than five decades, with over 100 singles on the Billboard chart, she sold over 75 million records worldwide, won 18 Grammy awards, one Golden Globe, has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and in 1987 was the first woman to be inducted into the Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame. She also performed at the presidential inaugurations of Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, respectively.
As news of her failing health spread rapidly over the past few days, Reverend Jesse Jackson and Stevie Wonder reportedly visited her at bedside to pay their respects. As well as Beyonce and Jay-Z dedicating their ‘On The Run’ tour stop in Detroit this past Monday night, to Franklin.
Franklin’s last performance took place on November 7, 2017 in New York City, at Elton John’s 25th anniversary gala for the ‘Elton John AIDS Foundation’. It was at that event where John declared Franklin the “greatest singer of all time”.
Aretha Franklin, The Queen of Soul, she will be sorely missed by many, but her music will live on forever.
And then there was one… Sad news in the wrestling world once again today, as we learn Jim ‘The Anvil’ Neidhart has passed away at the age of 63. Looking back at the Hart Foundation from the Attitude Era, only one person remains, Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart is now the only surviving member. Over the years, we’ve sadly lost Owen, The British Bulldog, Brian Pillman and now The Anvil.
TMZ has reported that Neidhart got out of bed to change the thermostat, when he did his body made a weird turn, then he fell towards the wall, hitting his head and landing on the ground. Neidhart had a history of suffering from seizures, which he took medication for. His wife Ellie called 911 after the fall, thinking he was having a seizure. When emergency staff arrived at Neidhart’s home, they found a 4-inch gash on his forehead, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after.
Neidhart of course best known for his time in the WWF, as a two-time Tag Team Champion with Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart in the Hart Foundation. A real-life brother-in-law to the aforementioned ‘Hitman’, the late Owen Hart and the late ‘British Bulldog’ Davey Boy Smith. The Anvil leaves behind his wife Ellie, and three daughters Jenny, Kristen and Natalie (along with her husband TJ aka Tyson Kidd), who followed in his foot steps as a professional wrestler and is known as Natalya in the WWE. Natalya posted a lovely tribute to her father on her Instagram page:
I can’t put into words how hard it is going to be for myself and our family to have to say goodbye to my dad. He meant the world to us, and nothing will ever replace the special times we shared together as a family. My dad was always a fighter and an incredibly special person. There was no one like him! I’m just gonna miss him so much. We are going to hold all of the moments we had with him close to our hearts forever and never let them go. I promise to keep your memory alive. We love you so much, Daddy! On behalf of my entire family, we would also like to personally thank everyone for the outpouring of thoughts and prayers. It’s meant so much to us.

Fantastic! Exceptionally well done! Hilarious! Outstanding! Those are just some of the adjectives I used to describe the Broadway production of the 2004 motion picture, ‘Mean Girls’.
My husband surprised me with tickets to the show for my birthday last week, for what would be my very first Broadway show! We arrived for the 2pm matinee showing just a bit early so we could check out the ‘Mean Girls’ merchandise selection and find our seats. The merch was cute, but a tad overpriced as you would probably expect for a show in NYC. I did pick up a “You’re Like Really Pretty” mug however, before going in to find my seat.
There isn’t a bad seat to be found inside the August Wilson Theatre. The interior is stunning and whether you are seated on the first level or in the mezzanine, you will have a great view of the stage!
The pre-show stage production was beautiful, very colorful and reminiscent of the 2004 movie, with photos resembling pages from the infamous ‘Burn Book’ with handwritten captions like “Shane Oman…HAWT, but dumb, but HAWT…”
While I was very excited for the show, and was certain I’d enjoy it since the movie is one of my favorites; I wasn’t sure I would be able to embrace the Broadway stars in the same way I embraced the Hollywood stars who played the original parts in the movie. I was wrong. From the moment the show began, the actors and actresses portraying the stars from the movie proved immediately that they were worthy, perfect for their respective roles and exceptionally talented. I was blown away from the start of scene one to the last bow at the end of the show. The show was cast perfectly, I loved every single character in the production, and though it was hard to pick a favorite, if I had to choose, my pick would be Gretchen (played by Ashley Park). She absolutely killed it, playing the part of Gretchen! Her ability to act, sing, dance and run around in giant stilettos on stage simultaneously and flawlessly, was astounding. I don’t think there’s anything that girl CAN’T do! Regina George, played by Taylor Louderman, was a fabulous bitch! I mean that in the most sincere way possible of course! She too was flawless in every way and also impressed me with her amazing ability to sing, dance and act simultaneously and perfectly! Taylor was the perfect choice to portray Regina…nailed it!!
There were some small changes made to the show, which were not very noticeable and did not effect the story or production at all. For example, Janis Ian had a different last name on Broadway than she did in the movie, she was Janis Sarkisian this time. There were some small memorable parts from the movie that were left out of the Broadway production, as I imagine it must be difficult to include every single phrase and scene. For example, you will not see Karen ask Regina if she wants to ‘go to Taco Bell?’, Regina doesn’t exclaim ‘Boo, you whore!’ to Karen over the phone after she fakes being sick, and Karen doesn’t have a “fifth sense” or “ESPN”. Speaking of Karen though, Kate Rockwell pulled off that part fabulously, she was hilariously dumb! Again, I mean that in the most sincere way possible!
However, MANY notable scenes and quotes DID remain in the Broadway production. I don’t want to spoil it for you, so I’ll just name a few. There IS a burn book. Aaron Samuels does ask Cady what the date is, (Oct. 3rd). And Regina did wear sweatpants and wasn’t able to sit with the Plastics at lunch.
There were also some added parts to the show, small scenes that I believe made the show better. For example, social media was incorporated into the show, which makes sense for a production running in 2018. The movie didn’t have that because social media really wasn’t much of a “thing” yet when Mean Girls was released in 2004. There was some mild swearing in the show, which personally I found hilarious and not offensive, but just FYI if that’s not your cup of tea. I was asked by a few people about the music in the show…whether it was good, whether the show was mostly music and how it all fit together in the production. The music was good, the singing was excellent, and no the show was not all music. I felt that the songs came in at exactly the right time and that the music/dialogue ratio was perfect. The songs were written specifically for the Broadway show and I believe were sold on CD at the merchandise booth.
I had one tiny gripe about the production and while I believe they weren’t wrong in doing this since they were likely “catering to their audience”, I personally didn’t care for the political innuendo. There were a few small left-leaning political jokes, which most of the audience found entertaining. Regardless of whether it’s left, right or center, I personally don’t like politics involved in my entertainment. I understand why they did it, and I wasn’t particularly upset, I would have just preferred that politics be left out, that’s all.
All in all, an absolutely fabulous production! I laughed a lot, it was really, really funny and I even cried at the end, not because it was sad, but because I was sad that it was over!! Bravo!! I give Mean Girls on Broadway 10 out of 10 stars!! You go Glen Coco!!
I don’t care if you’re just an everyday citizen or the head of state for your country; if you win the World Cup, you’re going to lose yourself in the moment. That’s exactly what happened when France won the World Cup.
French President Emmanuel Macron lost himself in the moments after winning the world cup. There is a gallery below.
I can see the orange cheese dust on my fingertips already! Ok, not quite but it sure is exciting that after 12 years, Planters is bringing back their Cheez Balls to a shelf or online cart near you. They’ll be available for a limited time starting July 1 at Walmart or Amazon.com, for just $2 a can!
Planters was initially going to sell their crunchy cheesy orange balls of goodness exclusively to walmart.com and amazon.com, but good news for everyone, they have decided to expand to other online retailers and brick and mortar stores in the near future.
Suge Knight’s mother passed away on Sunday and the rapper won’t be able to attend the funeral. The reason is simple: he’s in prison.
TMZ is reporting that Suge Knight has requested a “get out of jail” card to be able to attend the funeral of his mother but the LA Sheriffs department has declined the request.
Knight is being charged for murder and therefore won’t be allowed to exit the jail to attend the service. However, Knight could petition the court but the likelihood of the court allowing Knight to go to the funeral is very small.
Welcome back, Giuliana! It’s been three years since Giuliana Rancic left E! News, but she’ll be returning this September as co-host alongside Jason Kennedy, who she refers to as ‘one of her best friends’.
Rancic replaces Catt Sadler, who left the network six months ago after a discrepancy in pay between herself and Kennedy.
People was the first to report the return of Rancic and she had this to say to the publication: “Returning to host E! News is every bit as thrilling to me today as it was 16 years ago when I joined the show and embarked on this wonderful career,” Rancic, 43, tells PEOPLE exclusively. “Co-hosting alongside one of my best friends, Jason Kennedy, with one of the most talented teams in entertainment journalism, makes this move even more special. I can’t wait to reconnect with the E! News audience and go on this journey together once again.”
Rancic is set to make her E! News return on September 4. You can catch E! News weekly on E! at 7 p.m. ET.
Alec Baldwin, who plays President Donald Trump on NBC’s Saturday Night Live appeared on the Howard Stern Show and claims that if he ran for President in 2020, he would defeat President Trump.
In the interview, Baldwin says that he can only think of one or two names that can actually beat Trump. Stern jumps in and says “I can think of one name, Alec Baldwin”.
“If I ran, I would win… Hands down, I would win. It would be the funniest, most exciting, most crazy campaign.”
Though Baldwin’s idea sounds like a joke at first — “I’ve gotta do Match Game!” he suddenly remembers, referencing his current gig as the host of ABC’s summer game show — he later becomes more thoughtful about the idea of running for president, shooting down Stern’s insinuation that he is “the hope of the Democratic Party.”
“I’m only saying [I would run] because people don’t really have a sense of who’s going to come up [on the Democrats’ side],” Baldwin continues. “Somebody great’s going to come up, I hope. But the only reason I say that is because I’d love to run for that kind of position, to have things be very common sense. There’s so many things this country needs to do that are so obvious.”
