The highly anticipated reboot of Lizzy McGuire is halted as the original creator and show runner of the series steps away from the project. The New York Post is reporting that Terri Minsky is stepping down from her role in the Disney+ reboot.
“After filming two episodes, we concluded that we need to move in a different creative direction and are putting a new lens on the show,” a Disney spokesperson tells the outlet. “Fans have a sentimental attachment to ‘Lizzie McGuire’ and high expectations for a new series.” (The New York Post).
Minsky was not only the show runner but also serving as Executive Producer alongside the show’s star, Hillary Duff. The reboot will star show originals Adam Lamberg, Hallie Todd, Robert Carradine, and Jake Thomas.
