Broadway in New York is closed but they are getting ready for a streaming war. A new streaming service is launching for Broadway called Broadway on Demand. This new service will go head-to-head for BroadwayHD, a streaming service that has been around for 7 years.
According to the New York Post, the new service will not only have an exclusive library but also serve as a home for Broadway livestreaming. Broadway on Demand currently has 100 shows signed to a deal and that roster will be announced soon.
BroadwayHD costs $8.99 a month and includes titles like Oklahoma!.
“Broadway is a giant global brand, and its impact extends far beyond a few blocks in Midtown Manhattan,” Broadway on Demand’s Chief Executive Sean Cercone said Thursday in a statement. “This platform is our way of breaking down geographical and economic barriers so that the entire world can partake in all the wonders that Broadway has to offer.”
Broadway on Demand is expected to launch in May.
