CNN announced that Jake Tapper will host the 9 PM Primetime spot once held by Chris Cuomo, the New York Post reports.
The news of Tapper taking over Primetime is the biggest change to the network new CEO Chris Licht has made since being appointed CEO.
Tapper’s new show will premier on October 10. This means Tapper will be one of CNN’s leading voices during the midterm elections of 2024. CNN also announced that this is a trial run for Tapper.
“The world has come to rely on Jake’s no-nonsense approach to covering the news, especially during high-stakes election cycles,” Licht told The Hollywood Reporter on Thursday.
