Pop singer Ariana Grande started her musical career in her hometown, Boca Raton, Florida, when she was just 8 years old. She has performed in numerous musicals such as 13, but became well known as Cat Valentine in Victorious, now starring in her own show with Jennette McCurdy called Sam and Cat.
Ariana was signed to Universal Republic Records in 2011 and has been working non-stop on her new album, Yours Truly, which released September 3 in the United States. She recently finished her small tour called The Listening Sessions, ending in LA where Scooter Braun surprised her onstage with the news of Yours Truly being #1. Ariana is the first female artist to debut a first album at #1 since 2010, when Ke$ha held the spot with “Animal”. A few days before the release date, the album was leaked. Yet, her dedicated Arianators still showed their support and bought thousands of digital and physical copies, promoting it as much as they could. The 20-year-old singer and actress sold about 138,000 copies, capturing people’s attention with her pop, love song-filled album and high vocal range often compared to Mariah Carey’s.
