World Tag Team Championship Tournament Round One: The Young Bucks vs. Private Party
Before the match starts, Ross explains that if the time limit runs out, both teams will be out of the tournament. Tie up in the ring. Nick Jackson attempts three super-kicks but missed all three of them.
Matt Jackson in the match now. Clearing the ring. The Bucks do a cool neck breaker combination. The Bucks also have a bit of an edge this week. The announcers make it clear that last week’s show ending might be why they have this edge.
The Bucks are isolating Cassidy of Private Party. Mark Quen did this insane combo of suicide dives. Incredible!
The Bucks engage in some super-kicks.
Matt Jackson does a sunset flip to the outside of the ring, but Matt carries him up the stage and power bombs him on the solid steel stage. The Bucks do a Power-Bomb/Sliced Bread combo, two count, and Nick gets Quen into a sharpshooter.

Winners: Private Party
Commentary: This was an incredible tag team match. I am not a huge fan of Tag Team wrestling. However, this turned me into one for AEW at least.
Picture in Picture Commercial.
Out comes Chris Jericho with his crew. Jake Hager, Santana and Ortiz, and Sammy Guevara. This group looks legit and bad-ass! I am glad that Jericho has ditched that stupid thorn jacket, even though he looks like an idiot with the jacket he is wearing now.
Jericho is bragging about the high ratings for last week’s debut show. Side note: Jericho called themselves “Next & Now”, and its a play on “NWO” in my opinion.
Jericho introduces Sammy. Calls him a “Spanish god…look how sexy he is”. Chris Jericho also said “Sammy is on my list”, a good throwback to his WWE days. Jericho also with a tribute to Eddie Guerrero.
Jake Hager is introduced as a former world champion and the toughest guy in the world. Jericho killed “We The People”. He threw shade at WWE and called it “bad creative”. Jericho introduces the group as “The Inner Circle”. It sounds like they are starting off with a faction war for power…great!
This promo is amazing. The Inner Circle is great. However, I don’t like the idea of them going for “control of AEW”.
The announces plug ShopAEW.com and the website crashes immediately.
Here comes Jimmy Havoc for his match. 20 Minutes time limit. They air a promo from Jimmy Havoc where he says “Darby Allin is going to feel my pain”, stealing from 2002 Kane.
Darby Allin vs. Jimmy Havoc (Number One Contenders Match)
Bell rings, these two take their time. Allin extends his hand for a handshake, Havoc throws the first punch but misses. Havoc spits on Allin.
Havoc hits a suplex on Allin to the outside.
Death Valley Driver as we come back from a commercial. Havoc hits a pile driver and gets a two count.
Darby hits a stunner and then a body bag drop. Hits his head, but gets a three count. Great match!
Winner: Darby Allin
One thing I should note: I didn’t like how quickly they had the graphics for Allin v. Jericho done. It is a small thing, but makes a difference for me.
Another note, Jericho is currently number 4 trending on Twitter right now.
Here comes Bea Priestley and Emi Sakura, 20 minute time limit. Emi Sakura is the trainer of AEW Women’s Champion, Riho, who is also in this match. Here comes Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. (For the record, this must be great advertising for her practice!).
Bea Priestly / Emi Sakura vs. Britt Baker / AEW Women’s Champion Riho
Teacher vs. Student to start off. Riho takes control of the match at first. Sakura is able to take control back. Baker and Priestly are fighting on the outside of the ring. Sakura comes out and double teams Baker. Riho dives from the top rope to the outside.
Back from commercial, we see Baker pinning Priestly and Sakura stops the count. Sakura drags Priestly to her corner and then tags her.
Riho comes into the ring and does a really cool flip. Not a fan of after every commercial they plug their upcoming events. Small thing.
Britt Baker wins with a Mandible Claw.
Winner: Dr. Britt Baker & Riho
Priestly attacks Baker after the match. First time for the show, I am happy they slowed that down.
The Best Friends are interviewed before Shawn Spears comes out with Tully Blanchard. Commercial break during Spear’s entrances. PAC is doing commentary. Here comes Jon Moxley with a huge pop.
Shawn Spears vs. Jon Moxley
Tully distracts Moxley and Spears sucker punches him. Moxley has taken control of the match right off the bat. Moxley looks like an MMA star.
Spears goes to the outside of the ring and Moxley follows him. Blanchard is distracting Moxley left and right.
Winner: Jon Moxley
Dustin Rhodes / Adam Page vs. Sammy Guevara / AEW World Champion Chris Jericho (With Jake Hager)
Dustin Rhodes takes the fight to Jericho. The fight falls out to ringside area. Rhodes throws Jericho into the crowd and Sammy comes off the apron. Rhodes punches Sammy.
Rhodes tags Page into the ring. Page and Rhodes double teams Sammy. Page with a fallaway slam and a over the top rope cross body to Jericho on the outside. Page is showing his strength.
Rhodes tagged back in. Sammy and Rhodes in the ring now. Rhodes throws Sammy to his side of the ring and tags Page back in. Great team work from Page/Rhodes. Page goes to the top rope, Jericho tries to stop him before being kick off the apron.
Back from the break, Jericho is choking Page on the ropes.
Hager has got involved twice in the match. Jericho hits the Judas Effect on Dustin Rhodes. AEW is doing a great job at building the Judas Effect as a bad ass move.
Jericho gets the pin over Rhodes.
Winner: AEW World Champion Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara
The Inner Circle goes three on one with Dustin. Page comes back into the ring to try to even it out. Page throws a chair onto Jake Hager. Jericho and Sammy are taking it to Rhodes.
Lights out. Light on, Cody is in the ring. Crossrhodes to Sammy. Jericho and Cody are facing off and Santan and Ortiz comes out and attacks Cody. MJF comes running out with a chair. MJF pauses and teases to hit Cody with it before he attacked the Inner Circle. The crowd is all over this. They loved this.
Jericho hits a Code Breaker on MJF. The Young Bucks come out and hit super kicks on Santana and Ortiz and then take the fight to the outside of the ring.
As Jericho is on his way up the ring, Darby Allin comes skating down the ramp and takes the fight to Jericho.
Yet another great show for AEW. They did a much better job with commercial and with holding off on the fights and brawls.
