Interesting tidbit among all the TV news today: NBCU is letting WWE SMACKDOWN go to open bidding. They’re keeping RAW but the deal is so big (3x current value, I’m told) that they’re not re-signing both. Big sports opportunity for another network.

Big news coming out of TV Land today. According to PWInsider, NBCU is letting Smackdown Live go to open bidding while RAW will be staying on USA Network. No official announcement has been made regarding their TV future.
Commentary: Smackdown Live has formally become the B Show in the eyes of WWE’s TV partner. This is not a good look for Smackdown. What network is going to pick up SDL knowing that USA Network didn’t find it valuable? If the report is true that WWE is going to be getting 3x the money for it’s new TV deal, Smackdown is in trouble.
