Amy Schumer won’t be taking her new husband’s last name and it has nothing to do with the arduous process at the DMV or the fact that she’s already established a successful career with the last name ‘Schumer’.
However, it has everything to do with the fact that her hubby’s last name is Fischer. If she were to change her name, she’d become Amy Fischer, and that’s just too close to the ‘Long Island Lolita’ Amy Fisher. In case you don’t remember, she was the 17-year-old who shot her lover Joey Buttafuoco’s wife Mary Jo in the face back in 1992. Thankfully Mary Jo survived, and Fisher spent seven years in jail for it, before becoming an adult film star upon her release.
Amy, who married her new hubby, chef Chris Fischer, last month in a private ceremony on a Malibu beach, addressed the question asked by her father, in an Instagram story this past weekend.
Schumer had this to say in response to her father asking if she was changing her name, “I’m not Amy Fischer! Do you remember who Amy Fischer is? The Long Island Lolita.”
“No, I’m keeping my last name—I’m keeping your last name,” Schumer continued in the video to her father.
Schumer and Fischer recently returned from their honeymoon in Italy.
