-WHEN A BOOK FEELS GOOD BUT THE STORY DOESN’T
This week Guardians 3000 was one of my least favorite comics. I still liked it quite a bit, but I liked almost everything that much more. I’ve been enjoying these characters, the premise, and the execution overall so far, but this week fell a tiny bit flat for me. I feel like we advanced a collective ten minutes forward in the plot, which I guess when the first issue ended by jumping back to the beginning of the issue seems like an accomplishment!
I have a handful of books like this, where I’m always happy to read them but I don’t get that excitement in my bones for it. Ms. Marvel has been getting rave reviews since it launched but for as much as I love Kamala Khan’s dorky ass something about it just isn’t clicking for me. It’s the same when Astro City has its off arcs. The books that aren’t bad enough to stop reading, but just make me wish for something more.
