Google Developing iOS 6 Maps?

Image taken off Google.

Rumors are running wild the Google is going to be releasing an official Google Maps App for iOS 6. If you didn’t know, Apple dropped Google Maps in the latest version of the mobile phone operating system for a map app of their own, and frankly, it is a horrible app.

I was using the app to pick up some friends from class last week and it gave me completely wrong directions. The gMaps were perfectly fine on the iPhone. Why did Apple have to go out and create their own?

Apple announced in June that they were going to be dropping the Google Maps from the iOS 6, so you would think that Google would have began working on a standalone app, but they did not. And unfortunately for us iOS 6 users, we are not going to be getting gMaps back until the end of the year.

According to the Huffinton Post, Google is in the prosess of developing the app.

Here are my thoughts: Apple, you wanted to do this. Why didn’t you just take the final year of your contract with Google to create the App. I don’t know how long Apple has been working on the app, but obviously, they need(ed) more time. So why not suck in your pride for another year and really get the glitches fixed before releasing the new app? Honestly, I think you should have waited. I should have waited. I hate the new map app, i want Google back. I regret upgrading to iOS6. I really do.

Tell me what you think about the iOS6 upgrades and map app on twitter.
