When Daniel Bryan had his dreams taken away, there someone that kept that fire alive in him – and that someone is Brie Bella. This is the story of how Daniel Bryan got back in the ring after being devastated with a serious injury.
WWE issued a statement regarding Hulk Hogan’s status with the company.
“We have had discussions with Terry Bollea (aka Hulk Hogan) about how he can help others learn from his mistakes, however, he is not under any contract with WWE.”
Commentary: This is surprising considering it’s been less than a week that they had to change the name of the Women’s battle royal at WrestleMania due to the controversial past of the Fabulous Moolah. Hogan was fired in 2015 after video of him going on a racist rant became public. Would you want Hogan back in WWE?
Josh Mathews comments on Jeremy Borash’s IMPACT Wrestling departure:
My immediate reaction was that I was happy for him. I don’t remember who called me in the morning to tell me that we had to do a change in our VO schedule and that Sonjay was coming in. I was happy for JB. I’ve talked to JB a few times since then. And I’m happy for him.
But I’m also happy for Impact because JB leaving opened up an opportunity for Sonjay Dutt to come along and show everyone his skills as a colour commentator. And I think he’s done an outstanding job thus far. And it’s only really been just the beginning. Wrestling commentary is hard because you have to be dialled into every storyline that’s happening on Impact.
Not only the storylines that are happening but all the shows in California, shows in Canada, WrestleCon, Twitch, GWN. Sonjay has a good idea of what’s happening. That translates each and every week on Impact.
Commentary: Jeremy Borash was heavily involved in all aspects of IMPACT Wrestling. His departure really does open up the opportunity for others to step up and take on more responsibility. Sonjay Dutt is actually doing a really good job.
It’s been almost one year since John Cena proposed to Nikki Bella live at WrestleMania 33 last April. While a wedding is in the works, the power couple has a few hurdles to jump through before they can actually find the time to tie the knot. Of course WrestleMania is on the forefront of everyone’s mind, just a couple weeks away now, with Cena hoping to challenge The Undertaker to a match. Cena is also set to return as host of the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards for the second year in a row this Sunday, March 25th.
Nikki on the other hand, just returned from a lovely 9-day bachelorette excursion in Paris. John, however, will not be partaking in a bachelor party, instead just looking to use any downtime to relax. John tells US Weekly that he’s confident now that Nikki has returned, she’ll be piecing together the rest of their wedding details, such as whether or not they will write their own vows, and if the wedding celebration will be televised or not.
“It’s all up to the boss”, he says. Nikki and twin sister Brie have shared much of their lives, personal and professional, with their fans over the years through WWE, then Total Divas, now Total Bellas as well as their own YouTube channel that they update daily. I think it would come as a real shock to learn that the wedding wouldn’t be televised in some fashion. Nikki (and Brie) have welcomed their fans into their lives with open arms, it would be hard to draw a line in the sand now with such a monumental event on the horizon. I think (and hope) Nikki chooses to share her and John’s big day with the world, but of course respect her choice either way.
WWE.com has posted the following:
Following more than two years of extensive evaluations, four-time World Champion Daniel Bryan has been medically cleared to return to in-ring competition by leading neurosurgeons, neurologists and concussion experts, including Dr. Robert Cantu, Dr. Javier Cárdenas and Dr. Jeffrey Kutcher.
Bryan underwent a full review of his medical history and received comprehensive neurological and physical evaluations independent of WWE. He was cleared by each doctor as well as WWE’s Medical Director, Dr. Joseph Maroon.
After enjoying numerous championship runs, battling in legendary rivalries as both a singles and tag team competitor and sparking the epic “Yes!” Movement, Bryan was forced to make an emotional decision to retire from competition in February 2016. Later that year, he became the SmackDown LIVE General Manager, where he has continued to be an active part of the blue brand.
What will the future hold for WWE’s “Yes!” Man? Could we see a WrestleMania return? How will this affect his role as GM? Who will he look to face first? Find out as The Road to WrestleMania continues on SmackDown LIVE, tonight at 8/7 C.
Commentary: Daniel Bryan’s story is a true feel-good story. Bryan has spent over two years trying to get cleared by WWE, and now he is cleared. Is this because WWE is trying to sign him to a new contract (His contract is set to expire late September 2018), or is this so they can use him at WrestleMania? Maybe both!
Here’s to more of Daniel Bryan!
