The Voice on NBC
Check out Maroon 5’s new music video for “Girls Like You” with a cameo from his daughter Dusty.
Kelly Clarkson has done something only one other coach has done so far on The Voice (US). Since the show’s inception, only one coach had won the show during their first season. That coach was Adam Levine.
Since then, Blake Shelton won his second season, Usher won his second season, Pharrell Williams won his second season, Christina Aguilera won in her 5th season, and Alicia Keys won in her second season.
On Tuesday, May 22, 2018, Kelly Clarkson officially broke the curse and become the first coach since season one to win her inaugural season. Not only that, she will be the first coach who is not a “bookend” coach to defend her title on a second consecutive season.
Best of luck to Clarkson in her second season on the show.
Christina Aguilera is back and making moves. After a 6 year hiatus from making music, Aguilera recently released her Kanye West produced song “Liberation”. Now, she’s hitting the road.

Four-Time Emmy Award-Winning Competition Series Remains the #1 Alternative Show on Television
UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. – May 10, 2018 – Coming off their successful debut seasons on “The Voice,” current season 14 coach, three-time Grammy Award winner and “2018 Billboard Music Awards” host Kelly Clarkson and season 13 coach and Oscar, Golden Globe and Grammy Award winner Jennifer Hudson will reclaim their red chairs on season 15 of “The Voice.” Clarkson and Hudson will compete against Maroon 5 lead singer Adam Levine and country music superstar Blake Shelton.
The four-time Emmy Award-winning musical competition series will return to the NBC lineup in the fall as the next batch of talented artists vie for the title of “The Voice.”
“We are so excited to welcome back Kelly and Jennifer, two dynamic forces who bring undeniable soul, passion and inspiration as coaches,” said Paul Telegdy, President, Alternative and Reality Group, NBC Entertainment. “They each have a unique understanding of what it’s like to be in the artists’ shoes. Bringing these two voices together with Blake and Adam for season 15 is sure to make this one of our best seasons yet!”
On Monday, May 14 (8-10 p.m. ET/PT), Clarkson continues on her quest to win her first season as a coach alongside fellow coaches Alicia Keys, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton during the Semi-Finals round. The Top 8 artists will perform live in front of their coaches, which will also feature “Special Duet Blends.”
Hudson has also served as a coach on the U.K. version of “The Voice” twice, winning her first season on the series.
ABOUT KELLY CLARKSON
Kelly Clarkson, who recently released her critically acclaimed eighth studio album, “Meaning of Life,” is among the most popular artists of this era with total worldwide sales of more than 25 million albums and 36 million singles. The Texas-born, Nashville-based singer-songwriter first came to fame in 2002 as the winner of the inaugural season of “American Idol.” Clarkson’s debut single, “A Moment Like This,” followed and quickly went to #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100, ultimately ranking as the year’s best-selling single in the U.S. Further, Clarkson is, without doubt, one of pop’s top singles artists, with 17 singles boasting multi-platinum, platinum and gold certifications around the world, including such global favorites as “Miss Independent” and “Because of You.” Clarkson has received a vast array of awards and nominations, among them three Grammy Awards, and was the first artist to top each of Billboard’s pop, adult contemporary, country and dance charts. Clarkson is also set to host the “2018 Billboard Music Awards,” which will be broadcast live from MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, May 20 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on NBC.
ABOUT JENNIFER HUDSON
Jennifer Hudson, a true multi-hyphenate talent, won the Academy Award in 2007 for her performance in the smash hit “Dreamgirls,” an adaptation of the Broadway musical. Her breakout film performance also earned her a Golden Globe Award, Screen Actors Guild Award, BAFTA and NAACP Image Award. Hudson quickly followed with her self-titled album debut, for which she won her first Grammy Award for “Best R & B Album.” The RIAA Platinum Certified album entered Billboard’s Top 200 at No. 2. Her sophomore album, “I Remember Me,” also debuted on Billboard’s Top 10, as did her third album, “JHUD,” which featured the Grammy-nominated track “It’s Your World.” Hudson went on to receive a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for Music and perform for such dignitaries as President Obama and the Pope. In 2015 Hudson won a Grammy Award for “Best Musical Theatre Album” for her performance in the Broadway revival of “The Color Purple”. In addition to her continued film and television work, Hudson has served as a coach on both the U.S. and U.K. versions of “The Voice.”
ABOUT ADAM LEVINE
As the frontman of Grammy Award-winning recording group Maroon 5, Levine has left an indelible mark on popular music. The primary songwriter for the band and a guitar player, Levine’s talents give Maroon 5 its signature sound. His heartfelt ballads and pop anthems have become part of the fabric of today’s pop music scene. The band has since gone on to have massive critical and commercial success worldwide, including a Top 40 record that boasts a total of nine #1 hits among pop groups. Maroon 5’s discography features a succession of five multi-platinum studio albums that have resulted in more than 35 million in sales, three Grammys and 12 Grammy nominations, as well as gold and platinum certifications in more than 35 countries. It’s most recent album, 2017’s “Red Pill Blues,” debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 chart, marked the band’s sixth top 10 album was certified gold.
ABOUT BLAKE SHELTON
Country Music Association’s 2012 “Entertainer of the Year,” five-time Male Vocalist of the Year winner and Grammy Award nominee Blake Shelton continues to add to his superstar status. His latest album, “Texoma Shore,” became his sixth record to debut at #1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart and marked his 11th all-genre Top 10. “Texoma Shore” features his latest hit single, “I’ll Name the Dogs,” a romantic tune that boasts more than 30 million streams and became his 25th #1 single. In the week following the album launch, Shelton became the first artist in Country Aircheck / Mediabase history to have six songs chart simultaneously. “Texoma Shore” follows 2016’s gold-certified “If I’m Honest,” the best-selling country album release of the year that spawned three chart-topping songs and earned him a #1 on both the Billboard Top Country Albums and the all-genre Top Album Sales charts. A member of the Grand Ole Opry, Shelton has earned a host of honors throughout his career, which most recently include Top Country Artist at the Billboard Music Awards.
The Monday and Tuesday editions of “The Voice” are the #1 and #2 alternative series of the 2017-18 season to date in both adults 18-49 and total viewers, and have combined to average a 2.6 rating in adults 18-49 and 12.1 million viewers overall in “live plus seven day” ratings from Nielsen Media Research. The current spring cycle opened on Feb. 26 with the show’s highest results in the past 12 months in both 18-49 (a 3.5 rating in L+7) and total viewers (14.8 million).
“The Voice” is a presentation of MGM Television, Talpa Media USA Inc. and Warner Horizon Unscripted & Alternative Television. The series was created by John de Mol, who serves as executive producer along with Mark Burnett, Audrey Morrissey, Chad Hines, Amanda Zucker, Kyra Thompson and Stijn Bakkers.
Christina Aguilera is one of the original 4 coaches on NBC’s hit reality competition show, The Voice. Aguilera spent 6 non-consecutive seasons on the show and won the show one time with Alisan Porter.
In an interview with Billboard, Aguilera said that she felt the show was an “energy sucking” experience and she felt “suffocated” on the show.
After five years devoted to the “energy sucker” that wasThe Voice, she says, “I was longing for freedom.”
“It became something that I didn’t feel was what I had signed up for in season one,” she says. “You realize it’s not about music. It’s about making good TV moments and massaging a story.
“I didn’t get into this business to be a television show host and to be given all these [rules],” she continues. “Especially as a female: You can’t wear this, can’t say that. I would find myself on that show desperately trying to express myself through clothing or makeup or hair. It was my only kind of outlet.” -Billboard
Aguilera never actually commented on if she’d ever return to the show.
Jaclyn Lovey has killed every performance she’s had and this was no different. Check out the Best Knockout performance so far.
The Voice Struck Gold With Kelly Clarkson
NBC’s The Voice has been a rating powerhouse for the peacock network. Since their inception, The Voice took on American Idol, The X Factor USA, The Four, Boy Band, and La Banda and has single-handedly changed the world of singing reality shows. The Voice made Idol change its format and took a massive share of the audience away from Idol.
Seasons 1-3 had coaches Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Christina Aguilera, and CeeLo Green. Levine and Shelton would eventually become the show’s “bookend” coaches and pillars for the revolving coaches selection.
Usher, Shakira, Gwen Stefani, Pharrell Williams, Miley Cyrus, Alicia Keys, Jennifer Hudson, and Kelly Clarkson have taken turns filling the middle seats (with Aguilera returning for a couple of seasons). Shania Twain also sat in a big red chair, but only for one night.
Season 13 had Levine, Shelton, Hudson, and Cyrus serve as coaches for the show but there was a lot of negative feedback for having Hudson on the panel, and Cyrus was disliked by a major set of the audience.
We are currently in season 14 of The Voice with coaches Levine, Shelton, Keys, and Clarkson and the show has had a nice shot of energy to it. Clarkson has been a great addition to the show and was welcomed with open arms from the coaches. But what exactly makes her different from all the other filler coaches?
For one, Clarkson is the only coach/judge on a reality show right now who has won one of these shows and went on to have multiple #1 records and successfully crossover into different genres. If you look at Clarkson’s career, she is a well-respected pop-star and country singer.
Clarkson has seen the ups and the downs of winning a reality show, and at one point was irrelevant. Despite that, Clarkson continues to release albums and prove how much of a winner she is in addition to winning Idol’s first season.
This season of The Voice also faces new and direct competition in Idol. Idol has had two head-to-head episodes of its revival season against The Voice on Monday nights, but The Voice has them beat by over 2 million viewers.
If I were the producers of The Voice, I would make sure to secure Kelly Clarkson to a multi-season deal and make her one of the secured coaches on the show. I’d actually love to see her interact with other coaches like Pharrell Williams and Miley Cyrus.
What has been your opinion on Kelly Clarkson so far?
