The 2016 ESPYS Presented by Capital One will be hosted by WWE Superstar, actor and television host John Cena, who is best known as a 15-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion and record-setting Make-A-Wish granter. The ESPYS will be broadcast live on ABC Wednesday, July 13, at 8 p.m. ET from Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

Cena—who is the host and executive producer of American Grit, a new military-inspired competition series on FOX and has appeared in hit comedies Trainwreck and Sisters—will be joined by top athletes and celebrities to commemorate the past year in sports by recognizing major achievements, reliving unforgettable moments, and saluting the leading performers and performances. The ESPYS raise more than $1 million annually for The V Foundation, the charity founded by ESPN and the late basketball coach Jim Valvano to promote cancer research.

“It is truly an honor to be named host of The 2016 ESPYS,” said Cena. “Not only will the biggest names in sports and entertainment come together to recognize some of the most spectacular athletic performances of the year, but we’ll also raise funds for The V Foundation to further much-needed cancer research.”

As a WWE Superstar, actor, TV host and philanthropist, Cena devotes much of his time working on behalf of numerous charitable causes. He is Make-A-Wish’s most requested wish granter of all time and the only celebrity to grant 500 wishes. Cena is also committed to Susan G. Komen and its support of breast cancer research and awareness, and is a longtime supporter of the U.S. military, recently recognized by USO Metro as the recipient of their 2016 Legacy of Achievement Award.

“John is not only a superstar athlete and entertainer, but also a motivational force who inspires fans across the globe,” said executive producer Maura Mandt. “John approaches all of his endeavors with energy, enthusiasm and passion so we expect him to bring a new level of excitement to the night’s celebration.”

In addition to his work in the community, Cena is a powerhouse on social media with more than 41 million Facebook fans, making him the most popular active U.S. athlete on Facebook. He has recently appeared on Good Morning America, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Ellen, The Tonight Show and CONAN, among others. He also frequently co-hosts the 9 a.m. hour of TODAY.

The celebration of the best moments from the year in sports kicks off with The ESPYS Countdown Show Presented by Capital One airing from 5-6 p.m. ET, SportsCenter at The ESPYS from 6-7 p.m. ET, then another hour of The ESPYS Countdown Presented by Capital One from 7-8 p.m. ET on ESPN prior to the start of the awards. The ESPYS are executive produced by Maura Mandt and MaggieVision Productions.

The application site for media credentials for The 2016 ESPYS will open on June 6. Tickets are available for public purchase at AXS.com. For additional ESPYS news and information, please follow the official Twitter handle: @ESPYS.

The ESPYS

The ESPYS gather top celebrities from sports and entertainment to commemorate the past year in sports by recognizing major sports achievements, reliving unforgettable moments and saluting the leading performers and performances. The 2016 ESPYS will recognize both sport-specific achievements, such as “Best MLB Player” and “Best WNBA Player,” and best-in-sport winners, such as “Best Team” or “Best Female Athlete” that pit nominees from different sports against each other. Inspiring human stories are showcased through three pillar awards – the Arthur Ashe Courage Award, the Jimmy V Perseverance Award and the Pat Tillman Award for Service. The ESPYS support ESPN’s ongoing commitment to The V Foundation for Cancer Research, launched by ESPN with the late Jim Valvano in 1993.

dick clark productions and ABC announced today that Nick Jonas, Demi Lovato and WALK THE MOON will perform at the “2015 American Music Awards,” the world’s biggest fan-voted award show. They join previously announced host and performer Jennifer Lopez, as well as 5 Seconds of Summer, Selena Gomez, One Direction and Carrie Underwood.  The “2015 American Music Awards” will broadcast live on Sunday, November 22 at 8:00pm ET on ABC.

Nick Jonas won the T-Mobile “Breakthrough Artist Award” in 2008 as part of the Jonas Brothers and is nominated for the first time as a solo artist for Favorite Male Artist – Pop/Rock. Nick performed with the Jonas Brothers in 2007 and 2008 and returns to the AMA stage for his first solo appearance on the show. Demi Lovato is performing on the American Music Awards for the first time. WALK THE MOON will make their debut performance on the 2015 AMAs, and is nominated for the first time this year in the following categories: New Artist of the Year Presented by Kohl’s, Favorite Duo or Group – Pop/Rock and Favorite Artist – Alternative Rock.

Nick Jonas — Island Records Artist, Nick Jonas introduced himself as a fully formed solo artist on his hit self-titled debut, released in November 2014. The critically-acclaimed album includes double-platinum smash single and #1 U.S. radio hit, “Jealous” and his sultry second chart-climbing radio single, “Chains.” Jonas attributes his album’s darker overtones partially to the fact that while he was recording, he was also shooting the gritty television show ‘Kingdom’ — a mixed martial arts drama that premiered on DirecTV’s Audience Network last fall and was recently picked up for two additional seasons. Jonas recently earned two more high-profile roles, a guest starring role in Fox’s horror-comedy series, ‘Scream Queens’ and a lead in the James Franco produced film, ‘Goat’. Showing no signs of slowing down this year, the breakout solo powerhouse showcased his impressive falsetto with the release of brand new single “Levels” and in partnership with Island Records, Demi Lovato, and long-time manager, Phil McIntyre, Jonas helped launch his own artist-centric record label, Safehouse Records.  Jonas recently wrapped up his sold-out North American “LIVE IN CONCERT” tour.

Demi Lovato — With a fan base that includes over 25 million Instagram followers, 31 million Twitter followers and 37 million Facebook fans, the singer-songwriter, actress and philanthropist released her fifth studio album titled CONFIDENT on October 16. Her debut smash single from the album, ‘Cool for the Summer’ trended worldwide and hit #1 on iTunes in 35 countries upon launch. She recently debuted her new single, “Confident” on Saturday Night Live to rave reviews, and in partnership with Island Records, Nick Jonas, and long-time manager, Phil McIntyre, Lovato helped launch her own artist-centric record label, Safehouse Records.. Her previous album, DEMI, hit #1 on iTunes in over 50 countries and produced platinum singles, “Heart Attack”, “Neon Lights” and “Really Don’t Care.” To celebrate the success of DEMI, Lovato performed on stages all over the world when she embarked on two sold-out headlining tours (‘Neon Lights Tour’ and ‘Demi World Tour’) as well as countless national TV shows including “Good Morning America,” “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” “Ellen” and more. Next summer, Lovato will combine forces with Nick Jonas for the highly anticipated ‘Future Now: The Tour’ visiting over 40 cities in North America. In addition to her musical accomplishments, the business woman and entrepreneur released her New York Times best-seller, Staying Strong: 365 Days a Year and launched her very own skin-care line, DEVONNE By Demi. As an outspoken advocate for causes close to her heart, she remains devoted to giving back and serves as a role model by sharing her personal experiences. In honor of her late father, she launched The Lovato Treatment Scholarship which raises awareness for mental health and addiction issues, while providing funds to those who cannot otherwise afford treatment.

WALK THE MOON — Hailing from Ohio, chart topping alt pop rockers WALK THE MOON have dominated 2015 with their wildly popular multi-format and chart topping triple platinum smash, “Shut Up and Dance”. “Shut Up and Dance,” spent 22 weeks in the top 10 at alternative rock radio with 4 consecutive weeks at #1. The song also spent 6 weeks at #1 at both Hot AC and AC radio and peaked at #2 at Top 40 radio. WALK THE MOON spent most of 2015 on their TALKING IS HARD headlining tour in support of their album TALKING IS HARD (RCA Records) which was released in December 2014. WALK THE MOON consists of Nicholas Petricca (lead singer, songwriter and keyboard player), Eli Maiman (guitar, vocals), Kevin Ray (bass, vocals) and Sean Waugaman (drums, vocals).

To help fans express their passion and excitement for the show, the American Music Awards and Twitter are launching custom Twitter emojis for all performers.  All performers will have featured Twitter emojis to celebrate their appearances as they are announced. Viewers will be able to activate the Twitter emojis by Tweeting any of following hashtags from today through the end of the show on November 22:

Episode two of this amazing drama on ABC aired on October 4, 2015. This episode took their time to develop storylines that needed to develop. And after the premiere episode of Blood & Oil last week, this show needs to slow down a bit.

We pick up where we left off with a cliff hanger of a potential fire to the actual fire scene. Episode 2 is the developing chase for the suspect who almost killed Hap Briggs (played by Don Johnson of Miami Vice fame) and Billy.

I won’t go into recap mode but will say that there were three things that stood out to me:

  • This show will be huge on building relationships
  • Billy is walking a line of good and evil
  • This show will take us on an emotional rollercoaster

You cannot miss this show! This is the best show on TV!

ABC is at it again with their new drama Blood & Oil. It’s a classic story of good versus evil and love conquering all. This show reminds me a lot of the classic show Dallas.

I can’t tell you much, but if you are a fan of success, love, drama, and action, this is the show for you. There were moments of, “WHAT JUST HAPPENED” and moments of, “please, don’t give up” and a lot of me asking myself “Why do I feel like crying?!?!”.

In classic drama mode, the ending will make you want more! Make sure to check it out!
