-LET’S TALK HAWKEYE
The first issue of Matt Fraction’s new Hawkeye series has a gritty, no-nonsense feel to it, but combines it deftly with a sense of humor and fun that was truly a joy to read. There was a pizza dog and, quote, (some Spanish-sounding stuff!) right next to broken bones and filthy backroom fistfights. It even came with its own suggested soundtrack! (“Fire Dance” from Dizzy Gillespie & Lalo Schifrin’s “Free Ride,” if you were curious.) It was the first ten minutes of a great indie movie that just happened to star Clint Barton of the Avengers. If this book somehow keeps this tone going, it will be a top-notch, don’t miss comic. Check it out.
