I have seen Brian Michael Bendis knock first issues out of the park so many times in the past that this misstep is baffling.  It presents a new threat without making it seem threatening.  It presents a mystery, but with no sense of wonder.  And somehow it puts Marvel’s coolest heroes together and has them do nothing cool whatsoever.  Just an utter failure on every front, presented as a flagship book to court new readers sucked in by movie magic.  I feel bad for them.
